Originally the 20 Naga tribes fought together against the invading forces whenever such an attack arose. In between fighting invaded these headhunting tribes would often fight each other.\r\n\r\nOf the most developed Naga Groups, Angami and Rengma from the Kohima district along with the Lotha of the Wokha district and the Konyak of the Mon district have the most to offer for tourists. Locally famed for their cooking are the Wokha while the Konyak have without a doubt the most stunning traditional architecture one can come across.\r\n\r\n<strong>Tourism in Nagaland<\/strong>\r\n\r\nNagaland is the epitome of the Land of Festivals and it is the Nagaland Festivals that many people travel to the state to witness. The Women of the local tribes all wear a hand woven shawl that is different and distinct for each tribe and sub tribe while the men dress in their traditional warrior gear which includes a loin cloth. Each tribe has its own distinct seasonal festivals which are celebrated with pomp and vibrancy with food and music. All the tribes regard their own festivals as sacrosanct and the participation in the festival is absolutely compulsory.\r\n\r\n<strong>Climate and Geography of Nagaland<\/strong>\r\n\r\nA largely mountainous state Nagaland has a series of hills known as the Naga Hills which rise from the Brahmaputra valley in Assam right up to 3800 meters altitude where mount Saramati merges with the Patkai Range of Burma.\r\n\r\nAbout one sixth of the entire state is under evergreen forests of either tropical or sub tropical variety. There are 4 rivers that dissect the entire state, Doyang and Diphu in the north, Barak in the south west and Chindwin of Burma in the south east.\r\n\r\nA largely monsoon climate the humidity in Nagaland is through the roof. Annual rainfall averages anywhere between 1800-2500mm and is concentrated from the months of May to September.
